McCluer North Wresting Fifth Again In All-St. Louis Suburban Meet

For the third time in the four-year history of the All-St. Louis Suburban Conferences Wrestling Championships McCluer North takes fifth place.

Last weekend at Hazelwood Central, the site of all four of the All-St. Louis Suburban Conference Championships, McCluer North scored 158 points. The Stars finished behind champion Lafayette (221), Eureka (162.5), Seckman (161.5) and Parkway South (158.5). The only year McCluer North did not finish fifth was in 2012 as the Stars took second to Seckman that year.

McCluer North had one tournament winner in Travon Butler as he won the 220-pound title. Another North Star won an award as Christian Kinsey, fourth at 182, won the Gregorian Trophy for most falls (four). Other North Star medallists include Teron Woodson (third at 120), Efe Osaghae (fourth at 126), Matt Graham (third at 132) and Gary Washington (sixth at 170).

Host HAZELWOOD CENTRAL was the only other area high school to finish in the top 10 as the Hawks finished ninth with 89.5 points. Khial Jamison was the only winning Hawk as he won the 170-pound title. Jalin Gomillia (106) and Allan Person (160) each finished runner up in their weight class.

HAZELWOOD EAST was the next highest area finisher despite having no individual champions as the Spartans took 11th place with 83.5 points. Jerry Stepps was third at 106, Aaron Harris was fourth at 132 and Jaron Steward was fourth at 220.

HAZELWOOD WEST finished 15th with 70 points and had three medallists. Daniel Vaughn won the heavyweight (285) title, Justin Battiest was third at 182 and Nick Lange was fourth at 160.

McCLUER SOUTH-BERKELEY AND McCLUER each had one medallist. McCluer South Berkeley (16th-68 points) had a winner in John Williams as he won the 138-pound title. The lone medallist for McCluer (20th-47points) was Alex Willis, third at 152.

RITENOUR (12-82.5 points) had three medallists including 152-pound champion Tyron Welch, 220 a runner up in Adewale Adeoye and a fifth-place heavyweight in Tyler Harris. PATTONVILLE (21st-39 points) had one medallist in Tommy O’Brien (third at 160). RIVERVIEW GARDENS (27th-eight points) and NORMANDY (28th-six points) had no medallists.
