FFSD Hosts ‘Read from the Start’ Program for Parents

The Ferguson-Florissant School District’s Early Education Department will host “Read From the Start” — a free program praised by parents and organizations across Missouri as innovative, valuable and transformational – in two, two-part sessions this November at the Ferguson-Florissant Administration Center in Florissant.

Presented by the Missouri Humanities Council, “Read From the Start” is based on the conviction that parents are a child’s first and most important teachers, and that the love of books and stories begins very early in a child’s life.

The energetic and interactive two-session program will explore seven great children’s books and reading techniques that parents can use to engage their young children. Free childcare will be provided for infants through age five as parents learn how to introduce the wonderful world of books and stories to their children through reading, singing, acting, games, crafts and more.

At the conclusion of “Read From the Start,” parents will take home the seven titles they have explored during the program for free.

Available spaces are limited.

The programs will be held on the lower level in room E13 at the Ferguson-Florissant School District Administration Center’s Early Education Building, located at 1005 Waterford Drive in Florissant.
