NHRA Back at Gateway Over the Weekend

BY RANDY GARDNER

It’s here, the NHRA is back in town this weekend over at Gateway International Raceway. If you have never been to one of these events, get your tickets, load up the family and get out there. It is unbelievable what these cars can do, especially the Top Fuel Dragsters that go in excess of 300 miles per hour.

Your body and all of your insides will actually shake. The event goes on all weekend with the finals on Sunday afternoon. I promise you that you won’t be sorry for going and for all of you that are afraid to try something outside of your comfort zone, start by trying this— who knows, you might just soupe up your families grocery getter and become a racer.

Chris Long Was Good Choice

The Rams faired pretty well in this year’s draft getting the son of Howie Long in the first round with the second pick. Chris Long, is a very down to earth hard worker who knows that he must come in and earn respect on this team as a rookie. He hates being in the shadow of his father though, he wants to create his own path in this league. He will have an immediate impact on this defense as I think he will bring a young spark to this team.

In talking to many people, they say Long reminds them of Grant Wistrom and I tend to believe that. He looks like him and is built like him. I am also excited about the young speedster receiver from Houston , the Rams picked up with their second pick. He is little at 5’9″” but he packs a burst of speed and that is something that this team is missing right now. I am really excited about this year coming up as I love football

Road Rage in May

I also love to see the River City Rage win but they haven’t been doing much of that lately as they have dropped their last four games and are now 3-4. All of the games have been close ones that could have gone either way but the Rage fell short. The team will now go on the road for the entire month of May and then finish up with two at home, hopefully with a few more wins and a push for the playoffs.

By the way, the son of new Rams owner Lucia Rodriguez, is now the field goal kicker for the Rage, Will Rodriguez. We had a chance to meet the new owners of the team last week and they are genuine about their efforts to bring and keep a winning football team here in St. Louis.

The Rams will wear a “F” logo on their jersey this year in honor of Georgia who lost her battle with cancer earlier this year.
