Fall Festival Always Fun In Florissant

Florissant Old Town Partners, the city of Florissant, the Missouri Arts Council and the Regional Arts Commission are once again sponsoring the 16th Annual Florissant Old Town Fall Festival. The festival, which many say is the best one-day event in the metro area,  will be held  Sunday, Oct. 13 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Eleven blocks of rue St. Francois, from Florissant Road to the Old St. Ferdinand Shrine, will be closed to cars for the festival.

In past years, the festival has drawn over 35,000 visitors to Old Town. All side streets around rue St. Francois will also be blocked to cars.

Rue St. Francois will be filled with activities for everyone, with over 150 booths, including games, sales, food and beverages. Old favorites such as the Chile Cook-Off in front of  Click Heating & Cooling, the wine garden, pumping decorating, silent auction, Kincaid Puppets, jewelry making and entertainment will fill almost every block.

Fido Follies

The Fido Follies returns. It will again be held at the Government Center at 1055 rue St. Francois. Bring your dog and enter several contests, including smallest dog, best kisser, best costume, best trick and largest dog.

Water bowls will be provided on every block so your dog (properly licensed and leashed) can enjoy the festival with you.

Children’s Activities

Children’s hands-on activities, sponsored by Hazelwood Early Childhood, will be held on the lawn at city hall.

The Police Department, in conjunction with MOCHIPS, will be offering child identification kits free of charge in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

Car show

The Police Welfare Association will be joining us again this year by hosting their second annual  Car Show on the Knights of Columbus Grounds on the day of the Festival. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Florissant Police Canine Unit.

Craft Fair

The craft fair gets bigger every year. This year, more than 60 talented crafters will be at the festival with hand-crafted works for sale.

Entertainment

There will be entertainment throughout the festival. Acts booked include the Dixie Rhythm Kings, Men of Harmony, Doug Jacobs, Cookie the Clown, Dan Sproat,  Pat and Anna Auberry, Carol Brady our Story Teller, North County Big Band, Richard Renner – the Stiltwalker, Kraig Kalkbrenner, The Buckhannon Brothers, Bryson Gerard, the Retro Band, Seven Weeks After and more.

The featured entertainer this year will be Fan Fare Featuring Kittie Moller. There will bee two performaces, at 1 and 3 p.m., in the Florissant Band Shell, which will be set up at the Lawyers Building lot in the 100 block of St. Francois. The shows are sponsored by the Florissant Fine Arts Council with support from the Missouri Arts Council and Regional Arts Commission.

There will again be a shuttle on St. Catherine St. (one block over from St. Francois). The FLERT bus bus will be transporting festival patrons from block to block on St. Catherine. Look for signs directing visitors to the stops.
