IWA Hosts District Tennis; Crescent Farms Hosts Golf

Most area High School Girls Tennis Teams will be competing in Class Two, District Five, hosted by Incarnate Word Academy, beginning Oct. 7 while all area Girls Golf teams will be in Class Two, District Two Oct. 7, 9 a.m., at Crescent Farms Golf Club, Eureka.

Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, McCluer North, McCluer and Riverview Gardens will join IWA in a team tournament with each match consisting of as many as six singles matches and as many as three doubles matches and he first high school winning five singles or dual matches wins the dual team match. Weather permitting the team district tournaments must end by Oct. 11. Each school can enter no more than two singles players and two doubles teams, and they can not play in both, for district individual competition that will be played no later than Oct. 12.

Meanwhile Hazelwood West will compete in Class Two, District Six, hosted by Parkway Central. The Team District Champions from Class Two, Districts Five and Six will compete at the winner of District Eight for the Oct. 19 sectional round. Incarnate Word Academy will serve as host of the Individual Sectionals, pitting the top two singles players and top two doubles teams from Districts Five and Six, On Oct. 14-16.

The State Tournament, at Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, will take place Oct. 24 for the team championships and Oct. 25-26 for state singles and doubles.

GIRLS GOLF — Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, Hazelwood West and McCluer North join IWA in an 11-team tournament hosted by Webster Groves. The top two teams and the top 15 individuals not on the top two district teams qualify for Class Two, Sectional One Oct. 14 at Crowne Point Golf Club, with Farmington High serving as hosts. The top two teams from the Sectional and the top 12 individuals not on the top two teams qualify for the Class Two State Championships Oct. 21-22 at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club, New Bloomfield.

CLASS ONE GIRLS TENNIS — Lutheran North will be hosting Class One, District Four, Oct. 7-12, with the District Team Champion hosting the Team Sectionals, Oct. 21 The top two singles players and top two doubles teams from District Four will be in the Oct. 14-16 Individual Sectionals at the site that is hosted by Lutheran South.  McCluer South-Berkeley will be in Class One District Five hosted by Clayton, who will also host the Individual Sectionals while the Team Champion will play in the Sectionals at the winner of District Eight.
