Ferguson-Florissant School District Names Jaime Otto Teacher of the Year

Jaime Otto, a fifth-grade teacher at Robinwood Elementary School, has been selected Ferguson-Florissant School District Teacher of the Year for 2008.

“Jaime’s creative professionalism and commitment to helping children reach their full potential puts into daily practice the district’s mission of high achievement for every student we serve,” said Superintendent Jeffrey R. Spiegel.

Otto’s 11-year teaching career has been spent in the Ferguson-Florissant School District and at Robinwood Elementary School.

When asked her philosophy of teaching, she answered, “Doing whatever it takes to ensure our students are successful.”

Fellow Robinwood Elementary School fifth-grade teacher Cellie Boyd, who was selected district Teacher of the Year in 2005, calls Otto “phenomenal” and a “master educator.”

Robinwood Principal Kerry McDaniel said of Otto, “She is serious about the achievement of her students, but engaging and fun at the same time.”

Otto will be the Ferguson-Florissant School District’s nominee for Missouri Teacher of the Year for 2008.
