Jackie Joyner-Kersee Celebrates Jennings Achievements; New Turf Track Installed

Jennings School District Still Accredited

Jennings School District is accredited.  A story on the Jennigns District in the Aug. 29th issue of The Independent News mistakenly stated that the district was un-accredited. The district’s goal is to become accredited with distinction.   Jackie Joyner-Kersee attended the Back-2-School Jamboree to celebrate the district’s high performance and to encourage students to continue to have a healthy attitude.

Jackie Kersee also celebrated the final phases of construction of Jennings School District’s new turf football stadium and eight-lane track which will allow them to sponsor track meets in North County.  This will be the district’s first eight-lane track, and Jennings will be one of the only districts with a turf football field.   In addition to the stadium, Jennings Senior High School is adding a tennis court, they have opened a swimming pool and a dance studio for the performing arts is underway.

Jennings Supt  Tiffany Anderson said, “We want our student athletes to have a competitive edge as they prepare for college sports.  Schools are the center of the community, and the district is working to provide as many resources as possible to the North County community.

The turf field will be available for rental to other schools and organizations during the football season when it’s not being used by the district to allow the entire community to have an opportunity to access the field, track and other facilities in the district.”
