North County District CYC Playoffs in Florissant begin

Mayor Thomas P. Schneider has announced that the City of Florissant and the North County CYC District is hosting the 2013 Archdiocese City/County Youth Baseball Playoffs that began on Saturday, July 20 and will continue this week and conclude with the 11th/12th grade championship game on Sunday, July 28.All games are being played at both Koch Park  and St. Ferdinand Park. Participants that are playing range from 5th grade through 12th grade.

The 9th/10th grade boys’ baseball team from Sacred Heart  will play in the finals against St. Peters-Kirkwood at 5:30 p.m. at Koch Park field #1 on Sunday, July 28.   The 6th grade boys’ baseball team from Sacred Heart who will play in the semi-finals on Tuesday, July 23rd at 6:15 p.m. at St. Ferdinand Park field #2 and to the St. Norbert 5th grade boys’ baseball team who will also be playing in the semi-finals on Wednesday, July 24 at 6:15 p.m. at St. Ferdinand Park field #2.

St. Rose Philippine Duchesne 11th/ 12th grade boys’ baseball team lost on Sunday, July 21t against St. Francis of Assisi of South County in the semi-finals.  St. Francis of Assisi will play St. Catherine Laboure in the finals on Sunday, July 28 at 8 p.m. at Koch Park field #1 to conclude this year’s Archdiocese City/County Youth Baseball Playoffs.

 

The North County CYC District parishes that organized this event were St. Ferdinand, Sacred Heart, St. Rose-Philippine Duchesne, St. Sabina, St. Angela Merici, St. Norbert, St. Martin de Porres, Blessed Teresa of Calcutta and St. Ann- Normandy. Rick Moehlenkamp, is  chairman of the North County CYC District, Paul Bober, vice chairman, Rick Ulrich, past chairman and all of the North County CYC District Parishes that have volunteered their time to help with the set-up/ clean-up, registration of players, scorekeeping and field set-up before and after the games.

 

The public is invited to enjoy the competition.  They even provide a public address system to announce each batter and play pump up and organ music between innings. Baseball is alive and well in Florissant. In addition to CYC we also host American Legion Baseball and an Adult League at Koch Park field #1.
