Several in Senior PGA have St. Louis Ties

There are several of the participants in this years Senior PGA with St. Louis area connections.  Hale Irwin and Jay Haas can trace their roots to the Illinois side, with Bob Gaus, Jay Delsing and JC Anderson claiming St. Louis as their hometown.  TomWargo hails from Centralia, Illinois.

And there are some golfers who have traveled the globe to get to the middle of the US of A.  Golfers are competing from England, Zimbabwe, the Phillipines, Australia, Thailand, Japan and Argentina, adding an international flavor to the local proceedings.

The event also boasts such PGA Hall of Famers as Tom Kite, Sandy Lyle, Lanny Wadkins, and Curtis Strange.  Then there’s the Fred’s… Couples and Funk, Bernhard Langer and Mark Calcavecchia, who ties with Gary Wolstenholme for the honor of “Longest Last Name.”

Look also for these interesting monikers in the standings:  Andrew Oldcorn from Scotland; Rod Spittle, Canada; Boonchu Ruangkit, Thailand, and Khoki Idoki, Japan.
