Proposed Imo’s Building
Would Have Other Tenants
By Carol Arnett
The Florissant City Council held one public hearing on a proposed Imo’s Pizza, one bill for second reading, and held several bills for first readings at the meeting on Nov. 12.
The public hearing was about a request to allow a shopping center with a sit-down, carry-out restaurant (Imo’s) at 15285 New Halls Ferry Road. This is the site of the former Wedgewood Bath and Tennis Club. Tom Palitzsch spoke to the council about the proposal.
Imo’s will take part of the building and the developer will have other tenants. Palitzsch said that there could be anywhere from one to three other tenants, depending on the size of each.
Imo’s will have a pick-up window. Palitzsch said it would not have speakers. “You can call in ahead and pick up your pizza,” he said. The restaurant will seat 40. They will probably request a liquor license for beer sales, Palitzsch said.
The council held a first reading on a bill that would approve the development.
The one bill the council held for a second reading passed. It authorizes and amendment to a special use permit to allow for the expansion of an auto repair and auto body shop doing business as MAG Automotive at 8461 N. Lindbergh.
In other action, the council:
• Approved a full liquor by the drink license for Exquisite Taste Events LLC at 111 rue St. Francois.
• Approved the transfer of funds to pay for a replacement for a totaled Dodge Charger for the Police Department.
• The council also held first readings on several bills, including one that would approve the budget for the fiscal year starting on Dec. 1, 2018 and ending on Nov. 30, 2019. Another would approve the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for the 2018 fiscal year.
Another bill that had a first reading would approve a transfer of a special use permit from Cross Keys Auto, Inc. to STL Cheap Cars Inc. for the operation of a used car dealership at 14050 New Halls Ferry Road.
Another bill for first reading would approve a transfer of a special use permit from Metropolitan Events LLC to Grace and Mercy Adult Day Program I, LLC for the operation of an event/ banquet center located at 11 Patterson Plaza Shopping Center. The council has held a public hearing on the business at which several questions were raised about the banquet center and problems there.
