Hazelwood Declares Police Week, 3 Officers Promoted

The Hazelwood City Council unanimously approved a proclamation declaring the week of May 12 – May 18, 2013, as “Police Week 2013.” The proclamation pays tribute to the outstanding performance of the Hazelwood Police Department (HPD) in securing the area where the EF2 tornado hit on April 10.

At the same Council meeting, Hazelwood Police Chief Gregg Hall announced the promotions of Lt. James F. Hudanick to the rank of Captain, Lt. Ken Jewson to the rank of Captain, and Capt. Henry Mansker to the rank of Major.

“It is an honor and privilege for me to serve with such an impressive group of self-disciplined professionals.  These fine men and women are the people who make this an exceptional organization and one of the most respected law enforcement agencies in Missouri,” Hall said.

Hall pointed out that police officers worked 12-hour shifts for several days to ensure residents and their properties remained safe.  Plus, HPD officers constantly patrolled the affected area with squad cars and on foot.

“We tip our hats to the Hazelwood Police Department for doing an excellent job of protecting our residents when they were at their most vulnerable state. Our police department continues to carry on its tradition of providing outstanding service to our citizens under the leadership of a new police chief,” Hazelwood Mayor Matthew Robinson said.
