Trinity Catholic will be sending four golfers and qualifies to compete as a team in the Class Two, Sectional One Tournament, May 6, 11 a.m. at Bear Creek Golf Course, Wentzville.
Despite finishing fifth in District Two April 19 at Bogey Hills, St. Charles, and the top two automatically qualifies their team, Trinity qualifies their team as a Wild Card. If Trinity wants to qualify as a team for state, May 13-14 at Freemont Hills Country Club, Nixa, the Titans must finish in the top two or all four golfers must be among the top 12 among the teams finishing third or lower.
Leading the way for Trinity is Max Kelly, tied for 15th place, 20 over par 91, with Principia’s Ben Swank followed by Kyle Fite, tied for 17th (+21 92) with Principia’s Michael McClelland, Samuel Freihoff, tied for 19th (+22 93) with Orchard Farm’s Adam Suelmann, and Steven Leonard, 25th (+27 98). Kyle Conner (+29 100) missed qualifying by two strokes
CLASS FOUR–McCLUER NORTH will be sending three golfers and HAZELWOOD WEST will be sending two to Class Four, Sectional Two, May 6, 8 a.m. at the Missouri Bluffs Golf Course and any golfer finishing in the top 12 will advance to state, May 13-14 at Rivercut Golf Club, Springfield. On May 29 at The Landings at Spirit Golf Course, Chesterfield, a par-72 course, McCluer North qualifiers include Zach Schulz, tied for 15th (+11 83) with DeSmet’s Jack Russell Klingel, Bruce Breeland, tied for 17th (+12 84) with Chaminade’s John K. Hogan, and Willnard Anderson, 21st (+15 87). Qualifying for Hazelwood West are Keith Garland, 22nd (+18), and TyRon Weems, 25 (+22 94).
