More than 50 people ages 8 to 80 braved the steady rain last Saturday to attend  the grand opening and inaugural disc golf tournament at Dunegant Park. Mayor Tom Schneider and Council President Keith Schildroth welcomed the competitors and thanked the St. Louis Disc Golf Club for their partnership with the City to organize the inaugural tournament.

Mayor Schneider thanked the City Council for embracing the concept of developing the “Bellerive” of disc golf courses in the 52 acre Dunegant Park. David McCormick designed Florissant Dunegant Disc Golf course  now officially open and threw the ceremonial first disc making a bogey 4 on the Par 3 first hole.

Disc Golf is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. There are more 4,000 public and private permanent disc courses in North America.

There are plans to add concrete tee pads and additional course and park signage in the near future.
