HSD Names Chambers New Northwest Middle Principal

The Hazelwood School District Board of Education approved a recommendation to select Katherine Chambers as the principal of Hazelwood Northwest Middle School.  Willicia Hobbs, the current principal, has been promoted to assistant superintendent.

“Dr. Chambers brings diverse experience and a high level of energy to the role of principal at Northwest Middle School,” said Superintendent Grayling Tobias. “I am confident she will do an excellent job in providing leadership and support for those who work closest to our students.”

Chambers has more than 10 years of educational experience. She has spent the past two-and-a-half years as a middle school assistant principal, serving at both Hazelwood East Middle School and Hazelwood Southeast Middle School. She previously taught middle school social studies at Cross Keys Middle School in the Ferguson-Florissant School District. She also served three years as social studies department chairperson.

Chambers also worked in the education field as a school and community resource volunteer in the United States Peace Corps. She spent two years in Cassel Village, South Africa, where she conducted monthly workshops for teachers, evaluated and monitored the development of staff from three schools..

She has a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Arizona State University, and a master’s degree in educational administration from Saint Louis University. She received her doctorate in educational administration from Lindenwood University. She will  officially begin in her new role July 1.
