McCluer, Lutheran North Hosts District Track & Field on May 11

Two North St. Louis County High Schools, McCluer and Lutheran North, will be hosting District Track & Field Championships May 11, the first step on the road to the Missouri State High School Activities Association Championships that will take place May 24-25 at Dwight T. Reed Stadium, Lincoln University, Jefferson City.

McCluer will be hosting Class Four, District Three with Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, Hazelwood West, McCluer North, Pattonville, Ritenour, Riverview Gardens, Chaminade, DeSmet, Gateway, Incarnate Word Academy, Rosati-Kain and St. Louis University High competing.

Lutheran North will be hosting Class Three, District Three with North Technical, Trinity Catholic, McCluer South-Berkeley, Jennings, Normandy, Cardinal Ritter, Duchesne, Miller Career Academy, Northwest Academy of Law, Orchard Farm, Soldan International Studies, St. Charles West, St. Charles, Sumner and Vashon competing.

There are 18 events each for boys and girls and the top four from districts to sectionals on May 20. Sectional qualifiers from McCluer will be competing at Parkway North while sectional qualifiers from Lutheran North will compete in Mexico, Mo. Top four finishers from each sectional meet go to Jefferson City.

Meanwhile MSHSAA affiliate registered schools like North County Christian, Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis and Tower Grove Christian will compete in the Missouri Christian State Athletic Association meet May 2-4 in Joplin.

HAZELWOOD CENTRAL won five boys’ and two girls’ events May 13 at Rockwood Summit in the Corey Siebert Invitational. Kendall Preston won the 200 Meter Dash (22.24 seconds) and 400 Meter Dash (50.69 seconds), junior Matt Quarells won the 100-Meter Dash (11.17 seconds) while the Boys 4×100 Meter Relay (43.05 seconds), the Boys 4×400 Meter Relay (3:20.59), the Girls 4×100 Meter Relay (50.01 seconds) and the Girls 4×200 Meter Relay (1:46.13) were also winners.

McCLUER NORTH won three boys’ and two girls’ events at Rockwood Summit May 13 in the Corey Siebert Invitational. Senior Aaron Mallet continues dominance of Boys Hurdle events as he won at 110 Meters (13.77 seconds) and 300 Meters (39.01 seconds) senior Nicholas Stewart won the Boys 800-Meter Run (1:56.91), Kimberlin Simon won the Girls 300 Meter Hurdles (46.11 seconds) and McCluer North won the Girls 4×400-Meter Relay (4:06.55).

OTHER COREY SIEBERT INVIATIONAL WINNERS include HAZELWOOD EAST senior Kyle Washington, Boys Shot Put (54’3”) and McCLUER SOUTH-BERKELEY senior Janelle Johnson, Girls 800-Meter Run (2:24.11).

LUTHERAN NORTH won four boys; events and two girls’ events May 11 at the Lutheran North Relays. The Crusaders won the Boys 300 Meter Hurdle Relays (2:20.1), the Boys Triple Jump Relay (110’), the Boys High Jump Relay (15’9”) the Girls Long Jump Relay (40’0.75”) and the Girls Sprint Medley Relay (2:02.4). DeMarcus Dotson won the Boys 110 Meter Hurdles (15.9).

TRINITY CATHOLIC won two boys and two girls events at the May 11 Lutheran North Relays. Trinity won the Boys Shuttle Hurdle Relay (1:13.8) the Boys Mile Medley (3:53) and the Girls shuttle Hurdle Relay (1:24.4) while Marquel Collins won the Girls 110 Meter Hurdles (18.8 seconds)

WINNERS FROM APRIL 12 EVENTS — At the Henle Holmes Invitational at Parkway Central HAZELWOOD WEST senior Tyler Kelly won the Girls 300 Meter Hurdles (49.42 seconds) while McCLUER senior Shaelyn Grant won the Girls 100 Meter Hurdles (15.48 seconds). At the John Denett Relays at Oakville NORTH TECHNICAL won the Boys Triple Jump Relay and INCARNATE WORD ACADEMY won the Girls High Jump Relay.
