Historic Florissant, Inc. Names Gretchen Crank New President

Rosemary Davison has stepped down as President of Historic Florissant, Inc., after serving in that position since its incorporation in 1969. Davison made the announcement at the annual benefit dinner held at Hendel’s Market Café in February. Gretchen Crank was appointed HFI President effective Jan. 1, 2008, and Davison will remain on the board of directors as President Emeritus.

Davison has been instrumental in the establishment of many local historical organizations over the past 50 years, including Florissant Valley Historical Society and the Friends of Old St. Ferdinand. As president of Historic Florissant, Inc., she has been responsible for saving numerous buildings in the city that would have otherwise been demolished.

Crank has worked on various boards of historical organizations for nearly 30 years and chaired Florissant’s Old Town Commission for 16 years. She has been a board member of Historic Florissant, Inc. since 1993.

Historic Florissant, Inc. owns and has their offices in the Franz Gittemeier House on Dunn Road at Florissant Road. They maintain an extensive archive and resource library on local history and are open 7 days a week to work with individuals or groups.
