Hazelwood Central To Host Class Four District, Sectional Boys Golf

Hazelwood Central High School has been selected to host Class Four Boys Golf District and Sectional Meets.

Hazelwood Central will host Class Four, District Three on April 29, 8 a.m., at The Landings at Spirit Golf Course, Chesterfield. One week later, May 6, Central will host Class Four, Sectional Two at The Missouri Bluffs Golf Course with an 8 a.m. start.

Class Four, District Four is an 11-team meet with Hazelwood Central competing against Chaminade, DeSmet, Hazelwood East, Hazelwood West, McCluer North, McCluer, Parkway Central, Parkway North, Pattonville and Ritenour. Two teams and the top 15 individuals from the other nine teams will qualify for Sectionals to compete against those from District Four. In addition other teams can qualify to compete for sectional points if four or five golfers not from the top two teams finish in the top 15.

The Sectional feeds into the State Championships and Class Four will be held May 13-14 at Rivercut Golf Club, Springfield. Two teams from Sectional and the top 12 individuals from teams outside the top two will advance. Any school that is not in the top two but have four or five golfers in the top 12 will qualify for the team championship.

In addition Trinity Catholic will compete in Class Two, District Two, April 29, 9 a.m. at Bogey Hills, St. Charles. Should they finish in the top two or at least four golfers finish in the top 15 they will compete as a team in Sectional One, May 6, 11 a.m. at Bear Creek Golf Course, Wentzville, but if Trinity does not finish in the top two and less than four golfers finish in the top 15 then the golfers will only compete in Sectional One. The top two sectional finishers and individuals not on the top two that finish in the top 12 will advance to Class Two State May 13-14 in Nixa.Mo.

HAZELWOOD EAST TO HOST CLASS TWO, DISTRICT FIVE BOYS TENNIS

Hazelwood East is selected to host Class Two, District Four Boys Tennis with Hazelwood Central, McCluer North, McCluer and Riverview Gardens in that tournament. Elsewhere Hazelwood West will compete in Class Two, District Six, hosted by Parkway North, with Parkway Central, Pattonville and Ritenour competing.  In Class One Lutheran North will be the only non-St. Charles County team to compete in District Six, hosted by St. Dominic, with Duchesne, Lutheran-St. Charles County, St. Charles West and St. Charles competing.

The team district tournament, which consists of no more than six singles and no more than three doubles match for each dual meet, will take place May 6-10. Seedings and pairings for team districts will take place April 24-May 1. The team champion will advance to the four-team sectional tournament May 16-18, hosted by the winner of District Seven and the sectional winner will advance to the State Team Championships, May 23 at Cooper Tennis Complex, Springfield.

The individual district tournament will be held during the same week as the team tournament but must be completed by May 11 and each team should be able to send two singles players and two doubles teams but the players can not compete in both singles and doubles. Seedings and pairings will take place before the start of the tournament.

The top two singles and top two doubles will play a one-round sectional May 13-15 with the host of District Five and its qualifiers hosting the meet against the sectional qualifiers from District Six. The two singles winners and two doubles winners from sectionals advance the State Championships, May 24-25 at Cooper Tennis Complex.
