Proposition B: Sales Tax for Parks, Trails, Arch Grounds

St. Louis City and St. Louis County voters are also voting on Proposition P. This proposition, if passed, would increase the sales tax in St. Louis and St. Louis county by 3/16 of a cent for retail purchases, excluding food and prescription drugs.

The money raised by the tax would be split three ways. 30% would help fund a renovation of the Gateway Arch grounds. Additional funding for the Arch Grounds will be sought from private donors. 30% would go to the Great Rivers Greenway District for regional trails. The district estimates this could fund up to 130 miles of trails.  40% would go to St. Louis County for local and county park improvements.

Voters in both the city and county must pass the proposition for the tax to go into effect.
