Kuper Qualifies In 3 State Swim Events

McCluer North junior Nick Kuper has qualified to compete in three Missouri State Boys Swimming events this weekend, Nov. 9-10 at the St. Peters Rec-Plex. Swimming Preliminaries begin Friday, Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. with the top 16 competing for team points, including the top eight for state medals, Saturday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m.

Kuper will compete in two freestyle events, 200 yards and 500 yards, as well as the 100-yard butterfly. Kuper qualified for the 200 Freestyle with a 1:51.28 effort Nov. 1 at the Suburban North Conference Championships, qualified for the 500 Freestyle with a 5:06.13 effort in a Sept. 12 McCluer North-McCluer dual meet and improved on his Butterfly qualifying, 55.29 seconds, at the Oct. 18 McCluer North-Westminster Christian Academy dual meet.

Also qualifying for State Boys Swimming is Hazelwood West senior Latrae Lane, who qualified in the 50-yard freestyle with a 22.92-second effort at the Eudal Early Season Invitational, Sept 8.

Meanwhile, Hazelwood Central sophomore diver Clayton Janvrin will compete in the One-Meter event at the Rec-Plex, Nov. 10 at 9 a.m. Janvrin qualified with a 248.35-point effort, fourth best in state as of Nov. 2 at the Hazelwood Central-Wentzville Timberland dual meet, Sept. 19.
