Celebrating 95 spectacular summers in Forest Park, The Muny has  announced its 2013 summer season, a mix of contemporary musicals and timeless classics, including four Muny premieres. The seven-shows are: Les Misérables, The Muny’s Production of Disney and Cameron Macintosh’s Mary Poppins, Nunsense–Muny Style!, The Muny’s Production of Dreamworks Theatricals Shrek–The Musical, South Pacific, Monty Python’s Spamalot and West Side Story.

Final show order and performance dates will be announced at a later time. Season ticket renewal notices will be mailed out the last week of November. New season tickets will be available beginning Saturday, March 9 at the Muny box office in Forest Park, with Single tickets going on sale June 1, 2013.

“It doesn’t matter if you are a long-time Muny veteran or someone new to St. Louis, there has never been a better time to become a Muny season ticket holder,” remarked President and CEO Denny Reagan. “The 2013 season has something for everyone.”

“These are seven big, bold shows,” commented Executive Producer Mike Isaacson. “We’ve already begun finding ways to make them particularly joyous, exciting and moving for our Muny audience. If I learned anything last summer, it’s go big or go home.”

Last seen at The Muny in 2007, Les Misérables has been one of the most popular musicals since it opened in London in 1985. With its glorious scenery, grand theatrics and epic Victor Hugo story, Les Misérables is sure to thrill the Muny audience.

Making its Muny premiere, The Muny Production of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins has captivated audiences for generations, and now the irresistible story, songs and  dance numbers will dazzle and delight Muny audiences.

The Muny will usher in the debut of the 30th anniversary all-Muny edition of Nunsense–Muny Style! Making its Muny debut, this divine comedy follows the Little Sisters of Hoboken, members of a spirited and inspired convent, in their effort to raise money to bury members of their order – victims of an unfortunate “incident.”

The Muny’s Production of Dreamworks Theatricals Shrek–The Musical will make its Muny premiere. This is the story of a swamp-dwelling ogre who went on an adventure with his best friend, a very talkative donkey. Along the way, he fought a fearsome dragon, rescued a feisty princess, and learned that real friendship and true love aren’t only found in fairytales.

Last seen at The Muny in 2003, South Pacific returns to The Muny for its 10th production. As haunting and evocative as Bali Hai itself, South Pacific remains Rodgers and Hammerstein’s most eloquent musical drama, and their most deeply felt musical romance. The masterful and lyrical tells the  love story between Army nurse Nellie Forbush and the mysterious French planter, Emile deBecque.

Based on “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” Spamalot is a new musical with a book by Eric Idle and score by John DuPrez. Telling the legendary tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, and featuring a bevy of beautiful showgirls, not to mention cows, killer rabbits and French people.

Last seen at The Muny in 2005, West Side Story exploded the boundaries of what a musical could be, one the greatest love story of all time remains as powerful and timely as ever. The Sharks and the Jets, Tony and Maria, the romance and the rumbles all combine to retell the timeless Romeo and Juliet story in a purely American way.
