Casey, who is 17 and a senior at Incarnate Work High School, began volunteering at Delmar Gardens North when she was only twelve years old.  However, Casey has accompanied her mother, Dr. Colette Schmidt-Turner, on her weekly rounds since she was barely able to walk. From the very beginning Casey possessed a perception for the residents’ needs a compassion for their circumstance.

Barbara first came to Delmar Gardens North over seven years ago as a distraught wife who had to place her husband of 44 years. She saw the need of other families and filled her life with daily visits making the facility home for all. She is a listening ear and an extra pair of hands as she pushes wheel chairs, makes table centerpieces, dishes ice cream and calls Bingo.
