Penney’s Outlet Store Remains at Jamestown Mall as JC’s 5 Star Outlet
It was a little more than two years ago when J.C. Penney, Inc. announced its departure from the outlet business, and many North County residents worried that the future of the JCPenney Outlet at 246 Jamestown Mall, which has served the area for more than 12 years, was in jeopardy. But thanks to last year’s purchase of the chain by SB Capital Group, operations in the Florissant area have been maintained, and the JCPenney Outlet, soon to become JC’s 5 Star Outlet, and remains a positive fixture in the community.
Over the next 15 months, the Outlet stores, including the Florissant location, will transition in name only from the JCPenney Outlet to JC’s 5 Star Outlet. What won’t change is the quality, selection and brands offered at big savings. Enhancing this seamless transition are the familiar faces of the company’s 1,600 associates who retained their positions, providing customers with the outstanding service they recognize and expect.
“The more than 2.8 million residents of Greater St. Louis can rest assured that their JCPenney Outlet remains open for business,” said Steven Bingham, store manager of JCPenney Outlet/JC’s 5 Star Outlet of Florissant. “As we transition to the JC’s 5 Star Outlet name, longtime customers, and brand new ones, will continue to find great value, service, and selection when they walk through our doors.”
A key to the Outlet’s commitment to exceptional customer service is the steady leadership of Glen Gammons. Gammons’ 40-year career with JCPenney includes his stewardship of the outlet division for the past 11 years. Gammons continues his leadership role in the new company, serving as president and CEO of JC’s 5 Star Outlet.
“Our value-driven model has served us well,” Gammons said, “and will continue to position us for additional long-term growth. We have a long history of providing our customers with an exciting mix of great merchandise at hard-to-beat prices, and we look forward to sharing our in-store experience with new customers who value savings without compromising quality.”
The JCPenney Outlet/JC’s 5 Star Outlet in Florissant opened in 1995 and is staffed by 98 associates, all residents of the area. The Florissant Outlet has associates who have been with the company for as long as 37 years.
The outlet is open Monday – Saturday from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of JC Penney Outlet/JC’s 5 Star Outlet. With 15 locations and 1,600 employees across the country, the JC Penney Outlet/JC’s 5 Star Outlet sells apparel, shoes, accessories, housewares, and much more from a wide variety of vendors and resources, including overstocks and end-of-season merchandise from the J.C.
