Face Lift Begins at Value City

The former Value City site on Lindbergh Boulevard is undergoing a major facelift as part of the redevelopment of the site.

Five new stores will be located in the building: Ulta Salon Products and Services, Ashley Furniture, and Five Below have been announced as tenants. Petco and Michaels are also expected to announce a  move from their current Florissant locations to the site.

The store began life as a Grandpa Pigeons. When that chain closed, Value City moved in. The Value City chain also closed, and the store has been vacant for over two years. The city of Florissant recently approved the plans for redevelopment. The existing building will be divided into several stores and receive a new front facade, and another building will be built near Lindbergh for a new Panda Express restaurant.

Ulta, a beauty supply store, has several stores in the metropolitan area, but none in North County. Five Below sells accessories to the teen and pre-teen market, most less than $5. Ashley Furniture and Panda Express also have locations in the St. Louis metro area.

Mayor Tom Schneider said this week that the project will create more than 100 construction jobs. The stores are expected to open in September and October of this year.
