2nd Degree Arson Warrants Issued Against Florissant Club Owner

Warrants were issued Feb. 20 for Lozell Stiles by the St. Louis County  Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for the charge of Arson in the 2nd Degree.

The charge is related to a commercial fire at the Halls Ferry Inn Jazz Club that occurred in the early morning hours of Feb.18 Stiles is the owner of the New Halls Ferry Inn Jazz Club. located at 3425 North Highway 67 in Florissant. The site was formerly the Halls Ferry Inn Restaurant.

Fire and law enforcement personnel arrived at  the restaurant around 2:22  a.m. for a report of a possible fire.  On arrival there was heavy smoke as the  fire began to spread throughout a large portion of the business.  The fire caused  extensive damage to the business and an adjoining business suffered some smoke  damage.  No employees or customers were in the business at the time as it was closed for the evening.  No one was injured as a result of incident.

Florissant detectives were notified due to the suspicious nature of the origin of the fire.  An investigation resulted in Mr. Stiles being arrested and formally charged with Arson in the 2nd Degree.  He has been transferred to the St. Louis County Jail  pending the posting of a $10,000 bond.  The investigation is on-going at this time.
