Florissant’s annual Christmas in Old Town will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, beginning with the Christmas Walk, from 2-5 p.m. New this year, a walking Christmas parade will start at 5:30 and will lead to the 6 p.m. lighting of the city’s Christmas tree at city hall. Events are held on rue St. Francois.
There will not be a lighted mobile Christmas Parade this year, but there will be the walking parade
Many retail shops and restaurants will be open, so you can combine your day with eating, shopping and enjoying the holiday festivities.
The City of Florissant and Old Town Partners of Florissant have teamed up again to host Christmas in Old Town Florissant.
Many retail shops and restaurants will be open like Stems Florist, The Silver Moon Stencil Shop, Florissant Old Town Marketplace, Village of the Blue Rose, Dooley’s Florist, Korte’s Frames and gifts, Sandie’s Interiors, City Diner, Helfer’s Deli, Hendel’s Market Café and de.lish Cheese Cakes,
Santa Claus will arrive in Florissant at 2 p.m. at the Senior Dining Center which is located at 621 rue St. Francois. Santa Claus will welcome all children to visit him from 2-5 p.m. This is a very popular event so get there early. While visiting Santa at the Senior Dining Center take the opportunity to enjoy story telling, face painting, pictures with Santa and more, then stop at City Hall for more crafts for the kids, as well as music and entertainment.
3 Mayors Honored with Plaques
Starting at 4 p.m. near the sidewalk in front of the Senior Dining Center there will be three plaque dedications by Mayor Tom Schneider for former mayors Arthur Bangert, Henry Koch and Sidney Garrett.
Topping off the entire day will be the walking Christmas Parade which will begin from the Senior Dining Center at 5:30 p.m. and will travel up rue St. Francois to City Hall. Following the parade will be the Christmas Lighting ceremony at 6:30 p.m. The Christmas Lights of Florissant will be turned on with the switch being thrown by Mayor Tom Schneider.
