Dan Boyle Edges Kevin Kelly
In Special City Judge Election
In a close election between two popular Florissant attorneys, Dan Boyle beat Kevin Kelly by 77 votes based on the final unofficial results in Tuesday’s Nov. 8th special election for city municipal judge.
Boyle got 1,820 votes compared to Kelly’s 1,743. There were five write-in votes. It was the only issue on the ballot Nov. 8 in Florissant.
The total vote account was considerable less than in the April municipal elections when over 9,000 votes were cast and Boyle lost to Kevin Kelly’s brother, Tim Kelly who died a short time after that election. In April there was a hotly contested race for mayor among six candidates, won by Tom Schneider, plus two races for city council won by Keith English and Pat Stinnett.
North County Labor had supported both of the Kelly brothers in the two separate races. Boyle had a lot of business and chamber of commerce support, especially in the Old Town area where he and his father, Patrick Boyle, maintain a law office.
