McCluer North and Trinity Catholic High School Softball Teams are each seeded first in Missouri State High School Activities Association District Tournaments which began Oct.5 and are scheduled to end with championship games on Oct. 7.
McCluer North is also the host of Class Four, District Six and all games in this district start at 4 p.m. McCluer North will play Oct. 6 against the winner of the Oct. 5 game that pits fourth-seeded Hazelwood Central and fifth-seeded McCluer. The winners of the other two games on Oct. 5 — second-seeded Hazelwood West against seventh-seeded Riverview Gardens and third-seeded Pattonville against sixth-seeded Hazelwood East — will play in the other Oct. 6 semifinal.
Trinity Catholic is in Class Three, District Five and was to play Oct. 5 against fourth-seeded McCluer South-Berkeley at Lutheran North, who is seeded second and played the same day against third-seeded Jennings. Those two winners play Oct. 7 at Lutheran North and all of the game start at 4:15.
Incarnate Word Academy hosts Class Four, District Five but is seeded fifth and opened Oct. 5 against fourth-seeded University City and the winner plays Oct. 6 against top-seeded St. Joseph’s Academy. The other Oct. 5 games featured second-seeded Ritenour against seventh-seeded Normandy and third-seeded Rosati-Kain against fourth-seeded Ladue and those two winners play Oct. 6. All of the district games including the final will start at 4 p.m.
District Five winners host the District Six winners Oct. 12 in the sectional, quarterfinal games are Oct. 15, sites to be announced, while the semifinals and finals are Oct. 21-22 at Killian Park, Springfield.
GIRLS GOLF–Alicia Yn, Hazelwood West, won the Suburban North Tournament Sept 26 at Eagle Springs with a six-over-par 78 and helped West win the team title. On Sept. 28 at Crescent Farm Yn (87), finished second in Class Two, District Three by three strokes behind Kelsey Thompson (84) of team champion St. Joseph’s Academy, who sent their entire team to Sectional Two Oct. 5 at Bear Creek,
Wentzville along with runner up Parkway West.Yn competed at Bear Creek as an individual along with Angela Turner, Hazelwood Central, and Emmanuelle Breeland, McCluer North as well as six from Incarnate Word Academy — Elizabeth Francis, Mary Kate Stewart, Laura Kohnen, Heather Kotlarczyk, Amanda Ressel and Sarah Paunicka — which allowed them to compete in state. The top two teams qualify to compete for state team title, Oct. 17-18 in Sedalia while individuals from other teams that finished in the top 12 will go to Sedalia as individuals but if a team sends at least four that team also qualifies to compete for team title.
