This column lists events for the senior citizens of Florissant and North County. Note that some of the activities are for Florissant residents only. For more information, call the Florissant Senior Office at 839-7604 or 839-7605, unless otherwise noted.

CITY OF FLORISSANT RESIDENTS:  Make new friends or bring a friend to the Florissant Senior Dining Center at 621 rue St. Francois.  Every day, Monday through Thursday, a catered meal for $3.50 is served at 12:00 noon. Every Friday, we feature “Five Dollar Fridays”.  Florissant Restaurants deliver their specialties for just $5.00.  Call the Florissant Senior Dining Center at 839-7603 for more information.

Mayor’s Town Hall Meeting Sept. 15

City of Florissant Senior Citizens:  Mayor Thomas P. Schneider’s First Senior Citizen Town Hall Meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 15, at 8:30 a.m. at the James J. Eagan Center.  A free full breakfast will be provided by Life Care Centers of Florissant.  There is no ticket necessary and no charge to attend.  Call the Florissant Senior Office at 839-7604 for more information.

North County Gala Sept. 16

The City of Florissant will host the North County Gala at the James J. Eagan Center on Sept. 16.  The cities of Florissant, Bridgeton, Ferguson, Hazelwood and St. Ann will join together to provide North County Senior Citizens this fabulous dress-up event.  The 18-piece orchestra, The Sentimental Journey Band will play for your dancing and listening pleasure.  There will be appetizers and  attendance prizes.  All the participating cities will have a limited number of tickets to sell.  Tickets will be $15 each and are being sold now at all the participating

Bingo Clubs

The following Bingo clubs meet on the lower level of the James Eagan Center:

Monday Club meets from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Bring a sandwich-coffee and tea are available.  Interesting day trips to St. Louis Area locations are also scheduled.

Tuesday Club meets from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Bring your lunch! Interesting day trips to St. Louis Area locations are also scheduled.

Wednesday Club meets from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Bring a sandwich – coffee and tea available.  Interesting day trips to St. Louis Area locations are also scheduled.

Garden Villas North hosts Bingo at 4505 Parker Road, every Wednesday in April. Great prizes and refreshments  Free to play.  Reservations required.  Call 314-355-6100.

Card Clubs

Pinochile Club meets every Tuesday, from 7-9 p.m., at the JFK Center in Koch Park.

Bridge Club meets every Friday, at 10:30 a.m., at the Eagan Center.

Silver Words Club

Widows and widowers or divorced seniors  meet once a month, every second Thursday of the month at 1:30 p.m. with a meeting, trip or a speaker at the John F. Kennedy Center in Koch Park.

Line Dance Club

A free class meets every Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Eagan Center. Great exercise while learning to line dance
