Pavement Resurfacing set for New Florissant Rd.

A major upcoming project to overlay the pavement on New Florissant Rd., from Washington St. to I-270, was recently announced by Florissant Mayor Tom Schneider.

The project will include overlaying the existing pavement with an ultra-thin, bonded asphaltic concrete wearing surface. The existing pavement will be milled at the ends of the work zone.

St. Louis County Highways and Traffic Department is managing the project which also includes improvements to several other highly traveled roads in St. Louis County. The $1.8 million project was awarded to N.B. West Contracting Company, Inc.

“The improvements will provide residents a safer and smoother ride as well as enhance the appearance of one of the city’s most traveled routes,” said Schneider.

The milling work is expected to begin in late July or early August. The paving work is slated for late August or early September, weather permitting. Residents along the work zone will receive written notification prior to the start of work from N.B. West within the next couple of weeks.

The majority of work will be performed at night and the ultra-thin overlay will allow the lanes to be opened for traffic almost immediately following completion of the work.
