Hazelwood Early Childhood Program Taking Applications for 2011-‘12 Year

Hazelwood School District’s Early Childhood Program is now accepting applications for the Early Education Preschool Program for the 2011-2012 school year.

The Early Education Preschool Program is a preschool program which is designed to have both typically developing children and special education students. Next year, HSD will offer a choice of three or four half-day programs.

The annual fee is $150 for three half-days and $200 for four half-days. Program fee payments must be made at time of registration to ensure placement. Children are admitted to the program through a lottery system. The lottery form must be completed and returned to one of the three early childhood offices by Wednesday, May 25, 2011 for your child to be entered in the initial lottery. If your child’s form is received after that date, your child will be placed on the waiting list if no open slots are available.

The lottery will be held on May 31, 2011. To qualify, your child must be 3 years old by July 31, 2011, reside in the Hazelwood School District and have a DIAL screening. Children who turn 3 in June and July may be entered in the lottery and a screening will be conducted once the child turns 3.

If interested, please call (314) 953-7650 as soon as possible to schedule a screening and to obtain a lottery application. You may also obtain a lottery application by contacting one of the three early childhood centers.
