Although still more than a year away before construction begins, the eastbound cloverleaf off I-270 onto to Lindbergh boulevard will be replaced by an exit ramp. MoDOT officials say the work won’t begin until next summer or fall of 2012

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has planned several road and bridge projects in the North County and others that will affect area motorists in the coming months.
Larry Welty, the area engineer for (MoDOT, informed the Florissant City Council last week about upcoming MoDOT projects in the area.
Coming soon will be repairs to the Pershall Road and I-270 Coldwater Creek bridges. Each bridge will get a new deck and repairs to the bridge supports. These repairs are part of the Safe and Sound bridge repair program going on in the state. Coldwater Creek crosses under the highway between I-170 and Lindbergh. This project will begin this spring and will result in some lane closings.
Starting in July, some routine maintenance to I-270 will result in some night and weekend closures. Concrete smoothing and resurfacing is scheduled for the stretch from I-170 to the Riverview exit. This will mostly be done at night.
I-170 is undergoing bridge rehabilitation from Nyflot to Scudder roads. Ten bridges will be rehabilitated and eight painted.
New Halls Ferry will be resurfaced from Coldwater Creek to Lindbergh this spring and summer.
One large project is not in North County, but may impact residents. The Blanchette Bridge on I-270 as it crosses the Missouri River will have the westbound lanes closed for repairs for 12 months beginning in October 2011. All traffic will be diverted to the eastbound lanes.
Another large project is coming in 2012. Improvements will be made to the I-270/Lindbergh interchange. One current problem, Welty said, was the eastbound lane on I-270 where some cars are merging onto the highway from Lindbergh while other cars are trying to exit. The biggest change to the interchange will be that the cloverleaf to go from Eastbound I-270 to Northbound Lindbergh will close and be replaced by an exit ramp. This work will begin in the summer or fall of 2012.
Welty also said there was a study currently in progress to look at I-270 from McDonnell Boulevard to Highway 367. The study should be completed in early 2012, and should recommend some near and long term goals for the highway.
