9 Too Little, 18 Often Too Much In Golf

BY RANDY GARDNER

How many of you play golf out there? I do every once in a while but not enough to be any good. That means two things; one is that I need more practice and two that I get tired very easily.

That brings me to my topic on why is there really is only two ways to play golf. That’s 9 or 18 holes. For me 9 holes is just a bit short and 18 is way too many. I start getting tired around the 12th or 13th hole.

So why cant’ we just play by the hole and really get a chance to enjoy the round. I know there is a thing called a rain check if you can’t play 18 and you pay for them.

Another golf question is why are the cart fees so much? They can pay those off after about four weeks. I would like to walk a round or two each summer but the people behind you get angry because you can’t play fast enough.

I look at it two ways, if I paid my money I will play as I please, fast or slow. On the other hand, if the people in front of me are playing slow, I get mad because they are so slow. I guess that why they call it golf, because no matter how good we play one day, the next day we will play terrible. It’s a game that we can never perfect, but if you do there are millions to be made.

Can’t Imagine Dale Earnhardt With New team

If you are a NASCAR racing fan like I am, I know that you are watching the entire Dale Earnhardt, Jr. situation like a hawk. Will he leave the DEI team that his father started are will he stay. I can’t believe the whole thing is happening but this is what usually happens when families are in business together.

Could this all be a publicity stunt to a team that has been struggling lately? After all of the hype, will they mend the fence and everything is okay. It just seems weird that Dale, Jr. would be with another team.

This past week he was docked 100 points and team fined 100,000 dollars and crew chief suspended for 6 races for illegal changes to his rear wing spoiler on the new car of tomorrow. NASCAR put out a release a couple of weeks ago that they will not tolerate any cheating and this has proven their point. I think a few other sports leagues could learn a few things about harsh suspensions from NASCAR. They set a rule and stick to it.

Still A Long Summer Ahead for Cards

I just can’t get a hold on this Cardinals team that sits in 2nd to last place with a 16-20 record right now. You look down the DL and there are some names on it that you don’t want to see. Teams will be streaky all year but can The Cards avoid the cellar?

The series with Detroit Houston and Washington coming up will be telling. The Cards need a couple of big series and they can make a run for the top.. I know it’s a long year and summer is just arriving and that means the hot weather and hopefully some really hot Redbird ball. Let’s go Cards.!
