Rotary Club of Florissant Donates More than $55,000 Since Last July

The Rotary Club of Florissant has donated more than $55,000 to area charities since July, 2010.  Donations are made possible through club fundraisers, as well as proceeds from the Florissant License Office.

Jo Ann Donovan Took, president of the Rotary Club of Florissant, said she is pleased the club can give back to the community.

“Our Rotary International theme this year is ‘Building Communities, Bridging Continents’,” she said. “The Rotary Club of Florissant has truly worked hard to improve our community through these donations. With our donation to the Rotary Foundation, we are working to bridge continents, as well.”

The specific donations follow: USO, $750; Child Center – Marygrove Golf Tournament, $250; Florissant Police Welfare Association, $1,000.00; Valley of Flowers Queen Bond, $137.50; Christian Hospital Foundation, $200; Juvenile Diabetes,  $1,000.00; Just Because We Care,$1,875; To Historic Florissant, Inc., $600; Rotary 2011 Rose Bowl Float, $133; Joe Kavanaugh Eagle Scout Project, $150;  Steinman Memorial Fund, $1999; St Andrew’s for Seniors, $100;  Rotary Foundation, $5,192; T.E.A.M  Food Pantry, $10,000; Saint Martha’s Hall, $500; Sheltered Workshop (Valley Industries), $5,000;  Child Center – Marygrove, $10,000; DePaul Health Center Foundation, $10,000; Mayor’s Shamrock Ball for Sheltered Workshop, $5,000; Y.M.C.A., $1,500; and Hazelwood Fire Explorers, $250.

The Rotary Club of Florissant celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2010. With more than 50 members, the Rotary Club of Florissant meets every Tuesday at noon at Yacovelli’s in Florissant.
