GNC Chamber to Sponsor Florissant Mayoral Candidates’ Forum March 9; Mayor Lowery Endorses Tom Schneider

The Greater North County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a candidates’ forum for those who are seeking the Florissant mayoral seat in the April 5 election. Six candidates will appears on the ballot for mayor.

The League of Women Voters will moderate the forum at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, at the John F. Kennedy Community Center, 315 Howdershell Road in Florissant.

Invitations to participate will be sent to the following candidates: Ward 3 City Councilman Tom Schneider, Hazelwood School Board member Mark Behlmann, Ward 6 City Councilman Andrew Podleski, former Ward 1 City Councilwoman Susan Geerling, former state Rep. Michael Spreng and former Ward 6 City Councilman Robert Garrett. Door will open at 6:30 p.m. Space is limited.

Lowery Endorses Tom Schneider For Mayor

Mayor Robert Lowery has announced his endorsement of Councilman Tom Schneider to be the next mayor of Florissant. In a prepared statement, Lowery said he was support Schneider has “the dedication, experience, enthusiasm, and leadership it takes to continue moving our city forward. Lowery said that Schneider always supported the police department and other city projects.

“As a 32 year Councilman he was there for us fighting for street and sidewalk repair, storm and sanitary sewer improvements, park and recreation facility and swimming pool improvements. He created the much acclaimed Project Lift Off holiday youth event.”

“While we have not always agreed on every issue during my ten year tenure as your Mayor, I know that I can always count on Tom Schneider to be the first one to support meaningful and lasting progress for our city.”

Podleski Sets Meet the Candidate Nights

Andrew Podleski, Florissant mayoral candidate, has  announced he  has scheduled three “Meet the Candidate” forums at the St. Louis County  Library – Florissant Valley Branch (lower level)  at Bangert Park.  The dates are: Tuesday March 1 6:30– 9 pm ; Saturday March 19 9:30 am – noon; and  Wednesday March 30,  6: 30 – 9 pm.
