The mayors of Black Jack, Florissant and Hazelwood have announced their fourth annual Mayors’ Shamrock Ball to be held on Saturday, March 5, from 7-11 p.m., at Garden Villas North. This is the St. Louis area’s premier formal “green tie” event that benefits Valley Industries Sheltered Workshop.
Although the hosts include Black Jack Mayor Norman McCourt, Florissant Mayor Robert G. Lowery, Sr., and Hazelwood Mayor Matthew Robinson, this is not a political event for an exclusive crowd. Everyone is welcome to attend. Formal green tie attire is recommended.
For the past three years, the Mayors’ Shamrock Ball has helped raise more than $30,000 for Valley Industries, which is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization that provides dignified meaningful employment for adults with developmental disabilities.
The ball will feature Irish fare, cocktails, and musical entertainment by Bob Kuban. The king and queen of the ball will be the employees of the year from Valley Industries. Over 350 people are expected to attend the ball this year.
“Valley Industries has earned an outstanding reputation for continually providing high quality products and services for many companies on both a local and national level,” said Police Chief Carl Wolf, Hazelwood Police Department. Wolf goes on to say that the Mayors’ Shamrock Ball gives people an opportunity to step out on the town with their spouse or significant other for an evening of fun.
“Not only do participants get to meet their elected officials and schmooze with area business and civic leaders, but also they can enjoy delicious food, an open bar, and dance the night away while supporting a worthy cause,” added Wolf.
