Lindenwood is Considering Florissant Campus Expansion

Lindenwood University is looking to expand its campus in Florissant, Mayor Robert Lowery announced. The mayor  said he has spoken with Jim Shoemake, president of the Lindenwood Board of Directors and James Evans, president of Lindenwood, who are receptive to performing a study to evaluate expansion of the existing campus or locating another site to work in conjunction with the existing site.

Several years ago, Mayor Robert Lowery met with Dennis Spellman, then President of Lindenwood, about the  opportunity to purchase the vacated Our Lady of Fatima School and Church. Negotiations were made and the property was purchased and the university has been successful to the point of having  full enrollment.

Mayor Lowery said, “Lindenwood University has a major campus in Belleville, Illinois, and has expanded it into about six different buildings. The board at its last meeting added nine sports programs along with the existing great academic courses.

“We want to move forward with more people gaining higher education degrees and we want to have a beautiful campus for them to achieve their academic goals,” the mayor said in a statement on Lindenwood expansion.
