Rain Delayed Field Events At District; Sectionals Begin This Saturday

Rain last Saturday, May 15, washed out all field events, boys and girls, in the Class Four, District Three championships at McCluer North while three field events — boys and girls Long Jump, Triple Jump and Pole Vault — at the Class Three, District Three championships at Mary Institute-Country Day School were also postponed.

Those events rained out May 15 may have been rescheduled for May 17 at North and MICDS. The top four teams in each district event are to compete this Saturday, May 22, 12 noon, at the Sectional Two championships, at Troy-Buchanan in Class Four and Mexico, Mo., in Class Three. The top four finishers in each Sectional event will advance to state, May 28-29, 12 noon each day, in Jefferson City at Lincoln University’s Dwight T. Reed Stadium.

In team scoring, as of May 16, Hazelwood Central Boys, with 115 points, had a commanding 39-point lead in Class Four, District Three over defending state champion Hazelwood East (66) while on the  girls’ side Hazelwood East (90) was ahead of McCluer North (77), Hazelwood West (74) and Hazelwood Central (73) In Class Three, District Three McCluer South-Berkeley led the boys standing (83) by eight points over University City (75) while the MICDS girls (85) had a four point lead over defending state champion McCluer South-Berkeley .

Here are the latest results, as of May 16 in the Class Four, District Three championships:

HAZELWOOD CENTRAL will compete May 22 in five boys and six girls individual events as well as four boys and four girls relay events. District winners from May 15 include Girls 4×800-Meter Relay, Spencer Davis-Boys 100-Meter Dash and Boys 200-Meter Dash, Boys 4×200-Meter Dash, Michael Hester-Boys 400-Meter Dash, and Boys 4×400-Meter Relay

HAZELWOOD EAST, individually in sectionals, will compete in five girls and three boys events while competing in four girls and three boys relay events. District champions include Walter Powell-110-Meter Hurdles and 300-Meter Hurdles, Tianna Valentine-Girls 100-Meter Dash, and Girls 4×200-Meter Relay.

HAZELWOOD WEST at Sectional Two, will compete in five girls individual and two girls relay events while competing in two boys events, one individual and one relay. District champions include Shanelle Williams-100-Meter Hurdles and 300-Meter Hurdles, and Kelly Johnson-Girls 1,600-Meter Run.

McCLUER will compete May 22 in three boys individual events, three boys relay events, three girls relay events and one girls individual events.. The Girls 4×100-Meter Relay team was the only district champion.

McCLUER NORTH will compete in five boys and five girls events, all individually. District Champions include Kendra White-Girls 400-Meter Dash and Girls 200-Meter Dash, Natalie Pattin-Girls 800-Meter Run, Britney Newhauser-3,200-Meter Run and Girls 4×400-Meter Relay.

Here are the latest results from Class Three, District Three, as of May 16.

NORTH COUNTY TECHNICAL will be competing May 22 in five girls and  four boys events, all individually.  Marquis White was the only district champion winning the Boys 100-Meter Dash, Boys 400-Meter Dash and Boys 200-Meter Dash.

McCLUER SOUTH-BERKELEY will compete May 22 in five boys individual events, five girls individual events, four boys relay events and four girls relay events. District champions include Bianca Stokes-Girls 100-Meter Dash, Boys 4×200-Meter Relay, and Kianna Ruf-Girls 400-Meter Dash and Girls 800-Meter Run

LUTHERAN NORTH will be competing in sectionals in four girls events, two individual and two relay, and one boys event. TRINITY CATHOLIC will be competing May 22 in four boys events, two individual (Marquise Hill-100-Meter Dash and 200-Meter Dash) and two relay.
