Plaque dedication to honor Mary Gettemeier

LONG TIME VALLEY OF FLOWERS LEADER TO BE

HONORED SATURDAY, MAY 3 IN OLD TOWN

Mayor Tim Lowery and the City of Florissant has announced a Plaque Dedication set for Saturday, May 3rd, at 10:00 am. The Plaque will be located on the corner of St. Francois and St. Charles Street, near the Girardier House (601 rue St. Charles Street).

The time and location were chosen based on Mary’s involvement with the Valley of Flowers for over 30 years. This year’s theme for the Valley of Flowers Festival is “Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary, in honor of our Beloved Mary Gettemeier.” This ceremony is set to take place during the Valley of Flowers Festival, tying everything together very nicely.

The Plaque reads as follows:

“Mary Gettemeier

15 October 1948 – 6 August 2023

Mary Gettemeier was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. As owner of the Flower Pot and as a member of the Valley of Flowers Board, she devoted over 30 years to Florissant. Mary brought creativity, leadership, and a love of service to our community.  Mary’s colorful floral arrangements and her thoughtful guidance were integral to the event’s success. Her dedication and impact will always be remembered and will continue to bloom in Florissant’s heart.”
