Florissant’s Valley of Flowers Parade is Sunday May 5

The Valley of Flowers Grand Parade led by the Parade Marshall(s) is the highlight of the Festival weekend.   The Parade Marshall(s) are selected because they are involved with the community, they have supported the Festival, and they go “above and beyond”.

This year the Festival Committee named Christina and Nathan Bennett as the Parade Marshalls for the 62nd Festival.  For 26 years, the Bennetts have owned and operated Hendels Restaurant which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

Christina and Nathan are the parents of Kyle, Kaylie, and Annie.  Kyle is a Florissant Fireman who is married to Jennifer. They have made Christina and Nathan the proud grandparents of Elliott Joseph.  Kaylie is studying nursing at the University of Kentucky.  Annie will be attending Sacred Heart School next year which is where Kyle and Kaylie also attended.  Nathan and Christina support the Sacred Heart School with their attendance at the annual Dinner Auction fundraising event.

Their community involvement has been recognized by many awards including: Best Family Owned Restaurant by the St. Louis Small Business Administration (2016), Business Leader of the Year by Greater North County Chamber of Commerce (2018), 30 Leaders in Their 30’s by North County, Inc. (2018), City of Florissant proclamation for support and commitment to Old Town and the Florissant community (2019), and St. Louis Hometown.
