Holding the future in one hand and the past in the other, this program features composers who reach for the stars. St. Louis composer Blake Hernton synthesizes the influences of his sound journey to present his new work for voice and strings. A member of the Boulanger dynasty sets the stage for a contemporary tribute and the distinctive voice of Jessie Montgomery intersects with the legacy of Leonard Bernstein in a work that illuminates and inspires.

*NEW* Harmony in Music – April 6 The Grandel https://www.sooryaperformingarts.org/  Harmony in Music focuses on distinct styles of music from around the globe. Carnatic music – a classical style of music from India – will blend with new age standards and jazz music of the United States. This concert on April 6 at The Grandel will bring together the best of both worlds, taking the audience on a journey through original scores and fusion blends.

Travel the world through film! The J’s St. Louis Jewish Film Festival showcases national and international cinema that explores universal issues through traditional Jewish values, opposing viewpoints and new perspectives. Documentaries, drama and short films are presented for two weeks.

Classic 107.3, “The Voice for the Arts in St. Louis,” has a new episode in its series for school-aged children called “Musical Ancestries™.” The new episode explores the splendor of Mexican culture through its music, dance, art, history, and rich cultural traditions.

In addition to the three radio broadcasts, teachers, students, and families can delve deeper and engage through the educational resources on Classic 107.3’s website. A user-friendly Prezi program incorporates visual images, maps, audio and video clips, and hands-on activities. Students can follow along with the broadcasts as they use the online materials or access the “Musical Ancestries™” information anytime online.
