The Wake for Franz Gittemeier

Historic Florissant’s new event, the Wake for Franz Gittemeier, is scheduled for Saturday,

Sept. 10 at the Gittemeier House, 1067 Dunn Road, Florissant. Phone: 314-565-1468

The event will be held at 12, 1, 2, and 3 p.m. . Guests may choose their own time.

No ticket is required. Without giving too much away, as guests go through each room

of the Gittemeier house they will learn about the customs and practices of death and dying in the 1800s.

There will be displays, reenactors, and docents who will explain funeral practices in that era.

The complete tour will last approximately one hour. Cost is a donation of at least $10 per person
