60th Valley of Flowers was Smashing Hit

Florissant’s First Festival of Spring Drew Thousands

The masses came out of the woodwork for this year’s 2022 Valley of Flowers Festival, held May 5-8. It seems that having to cancel the popular event for the past two years really sent people into overdrive to make it there this year. After a long and rainy week, the skies parted just in time for the annual celebration. The festival kicked off Thursday night, May 5, at the Duchesne grounds for “Family Knight.” There were drinks, food, music, games, and the biggest draw of all–one ticket carnival rides.

The rest of the weekend was jam-packed with entertainment, contests, vendors, tournaments, and demonstrations. The Old Town Partners Car Show was back on St. Francois Saturday, May 7 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. with tons of pristine older cars, hot rods, and antiques. It was a chrome-lover’s dream. The James Eagan Center hosted a craft and vendor sale, petting zoo, and musical performances. The Gardeners of Florissant also had their plant sale in the ice rink as well. Pickleball and washer tournaments were also among the many other activities on Saturday.

Sunday, May 8 welcomed back the Grand Parade from the Eagan Center to the Knights of Columbus Duchesne grounds, where crowds gathered to find out the winners of the Pretty Baby contest, best parade float, and of course–the 2022 Valley of Flowers Queen and her court. Overall, this year’s festival was a very big success.
