New Pershall Station Council Hears Plans
For Major Upgrades for Ameren in Area

By Carol Arnett

The Florissant City Council met via Zoom again for the council meeting Monday night. It was a short agenda, with no public hearings. There was a presentation from Ameren UE about the Pershall Project.
Brandon Nickel, engineer and project manager for Ameren, spoke to the council about the Pershall Project. “The focus of the project is to bring more reliable energy to residents,” he said. Upgrades include a new substation and utility poles. The new Pershall station will be at the intersection of Hanley and I-270.
The upgrades will affect homes and businesses along Hanley and Graham Roads and those to the east and west of the roads.
There will be planned power outages in the spring and fall, Nickel said. They are planned at that time to avoid outages during extreme heat and cold. The project will be complete by the end of 2022, he said.
Nickel said that outages should last up to four hours. He said that customers will be notified before any outages that affect them. Customers may also need to provide access to Ameren workers if they have equipment in their yards or on their property. If customers sign up for alerts on Ameren’s website, they will get alerts before any work affecting them. Customers can sign up on the Ameren website.

In other action, the council:
