Bangert Pool, Summer Day Camp
Programs Cancelled this year
Mayor Tim Lowery has decided after meeting with Cheryl Thompson-Stimage, director of Parks and Recreation that it is in the best interest of the city ands the public , to not open Bangert Pool and to cancel the 2020 Summer Playground program.
Due to the current economic challenges the city will face due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertainty of the coming months, the decision was made not to open Bangert Pool and to cancel the Summer Playground program for the summer.
“As the current pandemic situation continues, the health and safety of our residents and employees is paramount,” Mayor Lowery said in a statement. “As social distancing will be encouraged even as the situation improves, the pool and playground settings would make it difficult to keep everyone safe,’
“We hope everyone continues to follow the social distancing guidelines as you visit our parks and to make sure you are properly disposing your gloves and mask when leaving,” the mayor added.
“We hope to see everyone later this year at both of our recreational centers and to be able to return to these types of programs next year,”
