Suspect charged with homicide of his 14-month-old daughter

Marshall Chunn, age 28, was formally charged with Murder in the 2nd Degree and Felony Child Abuse for the death of his 14-month-old daughter, Lyric.  Lyric died on Sept. 30, 2009 as a result of severe head trauma, suffered after she shaken and thrown against some cabinets by Chunn.  The incident occurred on Sept. 27, 2009 at Chunn’s townhouse in the 1400 block of Stonebury Ct. in Florissant, MO.

Chunn was trying to teach Lyric how to walk when he apparently shook her and then threw her against some cabinets.  He then drove Lyric to her mother’s place of employment in Florissant.  They called 9-1-1 while returning to their townhouse to report an accidental injury to their child.  Due to the severe nature of her injuries, Lyric was airlifted by A.R.C.H. to St. Louis Children’s Hospital where she was admitted in critical condition.  Her injuries were described as severe head trauma resulting from a fractured skull.

Warrants were applied for at the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office last week.  The two felony warrants were issued with a bond $250,000.
