For the first time since 1975, the Missouri State High School Activities Association Cross Country Championships will be in Columbia, after 43 years in Jefferson City.

On Nov. 9, the MSHSAA Cross Country Championships will be at the Gans Creek Cross Country course. It has a two-Kilometer course and a three-kilometer course. It is located in southeastern Columbia, across E. Gans Road from Father Tolton Regional Catholic High School. The meet begins at 9 a.m. with the Class One Boys Championships and ends at 1:30 with awards ceremonies for Class Four meali8sts and state trophies.

Beginning in 1976 and ending in 2018 the MSHSAA Cross Country Championships were on a golf course in Jefferson City. It was first known as the Hough Park Club and was renamed the Oak Hills Golf Course in the early to mid 1980s. From 1963 to 1975, the Boys Cross Country Championships were in Columbia at the A.L. Gustin Golf Course on the University of Missouri Campus. Since the MSHSAA Boys Cross Country championships began in 1949, through 1962, the meet was in St. Louis, at Forest Park. The Girls Cross Country championships began in 1979 so this will be the first time they will be running in Columbia.

Past state boys champions from North County at A.L. Gustin include Riverview Gardens (no longer fielding the Sport) in 1963 and the former Prep North (now the All Saints Academy-St. Rose Philippine Campus on St. Catherine St.) in 1975. In Girls Cross Country Hazelwood Central won state in 1986 at Oak Hills Golf Center.

The Girls were at Swope since 2017 and before that both Boys and Girls were at two Blue Spring High School campuses in Fall 2011-Spring 2016.

Before the Spring of 2012, Girls held the MSHSAA championships at Soccer Park (a. k. a.
