Man Arrested for Attempted Abduction of a 16 Year-Old on Her Way to School on Sept. 22

A 39 year-old Bel-Ridge area man was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 22 after attempting to force a 16 year-old high school student into his vehicle waiting she was walking to school at 5:50 a.m. in the area of Mullanphy and Florissant Park The suspect pulled up in a black SUV and attempted to intimidate the student into his vehicle.

A Florissant officer noticed the situation, pulled up on the scene and asked the female if she was all right. She indicated she was not and appeared to be frightened. The officer then approached the driver of the SUV to investigate the incident. The driver, after a brief statement, suddenly drove off.

The suspect led the officer on a chase through North St. Louis County. The St. Louis County Police deployed stop sticks on Highway 367 near I-270. The suspect drove through the stop sticks deflating his tires eventually pulling over in the Jennings area. When the officer pulled up behind the suspects’ vehicle he put his car in reverse and rammed the police vehicle.

The suspect again drove off and struck a curb at the intersection of Lucas & Hunt and Hord. As an officer approached the vehicle the suspect exited and began fighting with officers, but was finally handcuffed, transported to a local hospital for minor injuries received when he crashed his vehicle. Warrants were issued on Sept. 22 with the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
