Florissant Valley Quilting Guild Plans Show Sept. 26-27

Flower Valley Quilting Guild will host a quilt show on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 27, from noon-4 p.m., at Lutheran Church of the Atonement, 1285 New Florissant Road. The show will feature over 300 quilted items including full-size quilts, wall hangings, miniatures and clothing. Admission is $5.

Wanetha Ebker will be the featured quilter. Long-time Florissant resident, Wanetha is a talented quilt maker who also enjoys making one-of-a-kind cloth dolls. Her red work embroidery is pristine and is often incorporated into her quilts. There will be a special exhibit of her work.

The guild will also hold a drawing for a raffle quilt. The quilt, “Flower Valley Dutch Treat,” is based on the pattern Pennsylvania Sunburst from Of One Mind, Eudora, KS. The king-size quilt was made by Barb Bolesta and quilted by Sarah Cohen and features both piecing and appliqué using bright batik fabrics. The Atonement Men’s Club Barbecue Wagon will be available for meals and concessions.

Flower Valley Quilting Guild was established in 1985 and is planning several activities throughout the next year to celebrate its 25th anniversary. For more information, call quilt show chairman Teajuana Mahone at 314-868-8209 or guild president Judy Luebke Kooi at 314-837-6080.
