Bob Lowery began his 50 year career of service to Florissant as a police officer and advanced in rank to police chief in 1979 excelling in that position. He was elected mayor in 2000 after the death of Mayor James Eagan and retired in 2011. Always placing public safety first his administration was successful in delivering all municipal services and in completing major renovations to the Florissant recreation centers and facilities. Under Mayor Lowery business development thrived and several surrounding subdivisions were annexed increasing the size and prestige of Florissant.

“Bob touched the lives of countless people in and out of Florissant both as Chief and as Mayor but his devotion to all things Florissant started in 1961 when he became a Florissant patrolman in a small but growing department,” said current Mayor Tom Schneider. He followed Mayor Lowery as the newly elected mayor seven years ago.

Mayor Schneider said that Mayor Lowery saw the police department grow to its present size while making the entire city part of his extended family. His son Tim Lowery is now the police chief and is running for mayor in next year’s elections
