McCluer North Hosts Class Two, District 6 Boys Tennis May 7-12

McCluer North High School will be hosting the Missouri Class Two District Six Boys Tournament, starting with the team tournament, May 7, and ends with the singles and doubles championships, May 12.

The first two rounds of the Team Tennis Tournament will take place at McCluer North and/or the higher seeded teams that participate in Class Two, District Six. It is an al-Suburban XII Conference, North Division tournament with Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, Hazelwood West and McCluer joining McCluer North, which will likely host the Team Final, hosts the individual (singles/doubles) tournament.

The team tournament consists of dual matches in a best of nine format of six singles and three doubles matches. The opening round will take place May 7, semifinals are on May 8 and the team final will be on May 9. The District Six champion faces the winner of District Seven in the Sectional Two Tournament May 19 at the District Eight winner, which plays the District Five winner. The Sectional Two champion advances to the Class Two Team Tournament May 24 at Cooper Tennis Complex, Springfield, Mo.

In singles and doubles play, which pits two singles players and two doubles teams from each school, the top two singles players and top two doubles teams return to McCluer North on a date between May 14-16 in Sectional Three against qualifiers from District Five. The singles and doubles sectionals are a one-round event with the winners advancing to state May 25-26 at Cooper in Springfield.

CLASS ONE, DISTRICT FOUR — Lutheran North will compete at Shaw Park, hosted by Clayton High, along with Metro-St. Louis and University City. All team, singles and doubles matches will take place at Shaw Park April 7-12. Team pairings were not available as of 1 p.m. May 30

The Class One, District Four team champion will host Sectional One and will open against the District One Champion in one semifinal May 19. Team winners from Districts Two and Three will be in the other Sectional One semifinal and the two winners meet the same day for the right to play in State May 24.

The top two singles players and the top two doubles teams return to Shaw Park May 14-16 in Sectional Two against the qualifiers from District Three. The Sectional winners advance to State May 25-26.
